Angela Poppe Ries, MD is the Director for Palliative Care Services at UM Upper Chesapeake Health. She attended Duke University School of Medicine where she also completed her internship and residency. She serves as the President of the UCH Medical Staff and is board certified in palliative and internal medicine.

As a physician, she medically treats patients by managing symptoms and helping those with chronic or terminal illness gain a better quality of life – to feel better and be able to enjoy life without pain. When it comes to her hospice patients, she gets into intense discussions with people about life, death, God, family relationships and how important it is to make the most of every day.
